The Story of Only Heat & Horses Sauna

We're two local lads from Oysterhaven with a love for the sea, GAA, and all things wellness. As members of our local GAA team, we found ourselves turning to the benefits of coastal saunas for recovery and relaxation after tough training sessions. Every week, we'd hop between different saunas along the coast, soaking in the heat and the healing power of cold sea dips. It became a ritual we couldn’t get enough of.

Inspired by our passion for the sauna lifestyle, we decided to take a leap and create our own sauna—just for us and our friends. After some brainstorming, we came up with the idea of converting an old horse box into a fully functional, wood-fired sauna. It was a labor of love, transforming the space into a cozy, heat-filled sanctuary with stunning views of Oysterhaven Bay.

What started as a personal project quickly gained attention. Friends, family, and teammates kept asking if they could book a slot, and soon enough, word spread. With so much interest, we decided to open up Only Heat & Horses Sauna to the public, welcoming everyone to experience the benefits of heat therapy and sea recovery.

Now, we’re proud to offer sessions not just for individuals and groups but also for local sports teams looking for a unique way to unwind and recover. What began as a way to boost our own wellness has turned into a shared experience for the whole community.
